Tyrese Haliburton parents

Tyrese Haliburton's father, John, is a frequent vibrant presence along the baseline at Pacers home games.

The secret to Haliburton's personality is simple, according to his father: Joy.

"I raised my kids to care for people, to do for people," John Haliburton told IndyStar in October 2023. "I told them, ‘God is good. Give God the praise and God the glory.' I always believed that God blessed me, and I like to bless other people because when you bless other people, you get it back twofold, then you give it again and you get it threefold. Then you give it again and you keep getting it back and you get it back so much you don't even know what to do with it. Tyrese watched me how I care about people, how I don't mind going out of my way to care about people, and he believes in the same things."

His mother is Brenda, who received a special shout-out after Tyrese signed a supermax contract extension in 2024. She never missed a high school or college game until a flight to Lubbock, Texas, was canceled.

"My mom has been my everything to get here," Haliburton said. "I can't even put into words to explain everything, but I'm just really appreciative of you, mom."

Tyrese has two older brothers from his mother's previous marriage, and a younger brother Marcel.

Where did Tyrese Haliburton go to college?

Haliburton played two seasons at Iowa State (2018-20), starting 56 of the 57 games in which he appeared.

2019-20: 15.2 points, 41.9% 3-pointers, 6.5 assists, 5.9 rebounds, 2.7 steals; he earned All-Big 12 second-team honors.

He attended Oshkosh (Wis.) North High School, leading his team to an undefeated regular season as a junior and a state championship as a senior.
